About Us

The Cátedra Anacleto González Flores is a permanent forum for study, formation, reflection, and dialogue on Catholic tradition and culture, inspired by the life, thought, and work of Blessed Anacleto González Flores.

Mission

The mission of the Chair is to preserve, study, transmit, and bring into contemporary dialogue the intellectual and spiritual legacy of Anacleto González Flores, while recovering the broader tradition of Catholic formation and action from which he emerged.

It seeks to contribute to the integral formation of people capable of living their faith, assuming responsibility within society, and working for the common good and, ultimately, for the salvation of souls.

Institutional Role

The Chair provides a stable framework for collaboration among researchers, educators, students, academic and ecclesial institutions, and associations interested in these fields. In this way, it brings together efforts that might otherwise remain dispersed and facilitates long-term collaborative initiatives.

Primary Audience

The Chair is directed especially toward young people and new generations, offering historical, intellectual, cultural, and spiritual formation that enables them to discover and make this legacy their own.

It also serves researchers, educators, parents, formators, and others interested in these subjects, while maintaining an openness to dialogue with the broader academic and cultural world.

Areas of Study and Formation

The Chair focuses particularly on:

the life, thought, spirituality, and work of Anacleto González Flores;

the Cristiada, its origins, development, and consequences;

the martyrs and saints associated with this period of Mexican history;

the Catholic movement and Catholic social action in Mexico;

the intellectual, spiritual, and social tradition of Catholicism and its relationship to contemporary challenges.

Activities

To fulfill its mission, the Chair undertakes:

Lectures, congresses, and study days, including an annual keynote lecture around April 1, the anniversary of the martyrdom of Blessed Anacleto González Flores.

Research and documentation, including the study, recovery, and preservation of historical sources.

Courses, seminars, and study groups, with particular attention to the formation of young people, students, parents, and formators.

Training in public speaking and communication, particularly for young people, to strengthen their ability to understand, articulate, and transmit the ideas they study.

Publications and outreach, through books, articles, historical documents, educational resources, and digital content.

Collaborative projects with universities, research centers, ecclesial institutions, and cultural and social organizations.
